TFA was contracted by the Municipality of Ponce to complete an extensive report that identifies and quantifies the damages that Hurricane Maria inflicted on the property to present it to FEMA as part of the claim’s evaluation. An additional assessment of earthquake damages will follow, to eventually contract the retrofit and mitigations improvement design documents. The building stands is an adaptive reuse of the former Julio Bigas Market Place into the Ponce Servicios, a multi-use municipal office facility, and a multi-story parking garage. The building sustained water damage through all floors that require repair and added resiliency for future natural disasters. Part of the mitigation improvements includes the rehabilitation of the third, fifth levels to house emergency management office, and improvements on the roof levels.
