Schematic design for a new residence at the top of a hill overlooking Crash Boat Beach in Aguadilla. The owners wanted to build a comfortable house with luxurious amenities similar to a hotel. To achieve the tropical sensation we were pursuing, we chose modern and luxurious interior finishes like travertine stone and walnut wood paneling. The cross hipped roof gives a large amount of shade and appears to float above the house. To take advantage of the views the infinity pool is located towards the edge of the hill overlooking the beach and creating an illusion that will appear to blend the water with the sky.
Sustainability was an important consideration for the owners. We designed a standing seam metal roofing with thick insulation to generate a thermally comfortable building and maintain a cool interior. Other sustainable technologies like photovoltaic panels to generate electricity and gray water re-circulation for water management were adopted.
