Eduardo Tapia, Architect.

Eduardo Tapia is a Cornell University graduate with over 20 years’ experience in the architecture profession, leading projects from design conception to completion. Architect Tapia has extensive experience providing technical advisory and support for high-performance design projects, including security and technology sensitive projects. As a project manager and owner representative, Eduardo recently managed as Owner Representative a highly technical ambulatory care facility with a budget of seven million dollars. He is well versed in reviewing budgets and cost control projections, leading and coordinating multidisciplinary teams as well as writing specifications and managing contracts.

After graduating from Cornell B.Arch professional program, Eduardo worked in Skidmore Owings and Merrill LLP and Polshek Partnership in New York City. After returning to Puerto Rico, he worked at Toro Ferrer Arquitectos and consulted for the Land Administration Office in PR. In 2008, he co-founded Tapia + Fernandez Arquitectos with Beatriz Fernandez. He now strives to continue expanding his contribution to Puerto Rico through research-based design. As part of his interests, he explores prototyping ideas and modulation systems to incorporate prefabrication to TFA designs.

Beatriz Fernandez, Architect.

Beatriz Fernandez has been working as an architect for more than 20 years after graduating from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Architecture professional degree. Her expertise includes planning, development, and construction of projects ranging from small design interventions, renovations, commercial interiors to large scale commercial buildings. Architect Fernandez’s working skills include project inspection, quality control support, detailing, and code interpretation during the construction documentation stages. Ms. Fernandez has field experience in different roles in construction administration, building inspection, and project management. She also has experience in LEED Certification as well as in the design of sustainable projects in tropical regions.

After graduating from Cornell in 1997, Beatriz worked in the architecture offices of GVK Architects and Davis Brody Bond in New York. In Puerto Rico, she collaborated with Agrait Betancourt Arquitectos, Ramirez Buxeda Arquitectos. In 2008, Fernandez co-founded Tapia + Fernandez Arquitectos together with Eduardo Tapia. She now works as the office’s principal and president. As part of TFA she has consulted for firms like D+Design Development and RMA Architecture. Besides working in the design and construction field, Architect Fernandez taught as an associate professor at the UPR School of Architecture from 2007 until 2016.
